SEO Reporting That Ties to Revenue (Template Inside)
Most SEO reports are 40 pages of vanity metrics nobody reads. Rankings went up, traffic went up, and the CFO still asks what any of it is worth. Here’s the one-page format we use instead.
Lead with money, not metrics
Page one of our report has four numbers: organic-attributed pipeline, organic-attributed revenue, blended customer acquisition cost, and payback period. Everything else is appendix. If you can’t draw the line from organic search to revenue, fix your attribution before you fix your rankings.
The three sections
What happened: pipeline and revenue from organic, with month-over-month and year-over-year context. Why it happened: the two or three initiatives that drove the change — a content launch, a technical fix, a link campaign — each tied to its outcome. What’s next: the highest-leverage work for the next 30 days and the revenue it’s expected to influence.
Reports should create decisions, not just document activity. If your report doesn’t change what anyone does next month, it’s a newsletter — and nobody asked for a newsletter.
